The SBC Summit Barcelona went Digital this year delivering a fully virtual and interactive conference. More than 10 000 delegates from around the world gathered to share their insight and views on the latest developments in the betting and gaming industry.
One key differentiating factor of this event was the sector and industry-specific themed Networking Roundtables that connected various key stakeholders to discuss challenges and opportunities within the iGaming market.
Our CEO, George Shamugia, joined the CIS Roundtable alongside other industry leaders:
- Irakli Asanishvili, Deputy CEO/Member of the Board, Aadjarabet
- Paruyr Shahbazyan, CEO/Founder, BR Labs
- Suren Khachatryan , CCO, Digitain
- Ilya Machavariani, Head of CIS & Russian Gaming and Gambling practices, Dentons
- Lasha Machavariani, CEO/Founder, Setanta Sports Media
They discussed the challenges and opportunities of emerging markets in the CIS region. Taking into consideration that the CIS region has been the origin of key innovations in the last couple of years, these countries are particularly attractive for operators and suppliers.
The CIS roundtable highlighted some of the key factors for the country’s attractiveness for big iGaming brands. Among these, the regulatory framework, the country’s democratic strength, and the ease of doing business were identified to be just as important as the market’s potential for online betting.
Communication, culture, and attitude were mentioned by roundtable members as essential, for building strong relationships between the operators and platform suppliers. A successful client relationship builds a synergy that produces a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate operations executed in collaboration.
Last but not least, they addressed the importance of localization in newly-regulated markets that can be done either through assembling a local team that understands the market or by acquiring an existing operation of a local smaller brand. Which of the two strategies will dominate can play a significant role in shaping the market in the next couple of years.
In the last couple of years, Singular has targeted several newly-regulated markets. Thanks to our modular solutions we’ve been able to give our clients the flexibility to adapt to different jurisdictional regulations, localize both, to the client and market needs, at the same time addressing unique player demands.
